Yes, fruit smoothies are tasty. And yes, they can be filled with plenty of good nutrition. But make sure your fruit smoothie gets a checkup by checking out the nutrition facts!

They can be loaded with calories. Take those smoothies that boast their “muscle-building” qualities. Those smoothies can have up to 900 calories in a 20-ounce drink!

Here’s a hint: Smoothie nutrition facts are often provided per ounce. Check out your smoothie. It may have 20 ounces. Each ounce has 30 to 35 calories. That means your smoothie just cost you 600 to 700 calories!

Try a smoothie with low-fat or nonfat ingredients. Also, look for low- or no-sugar ingredients. This can help reduce a fruit smoothie’s calorie count.

Then, you can enjoy your fruit smoothie without the extra calorie worries!
